I love love cherries and berries and a fruit crumble crisp a la mode is one of my top three desserts. We have a few versions here on SKCC, and since it’s the season for corn flavors as well, I thought a little cornmeal in the topping would be summery. It adds some texture that are usually gotten from oats and nuts in a crumble, while still being cakey.
You can use frozen fruit, but I find it just yields a much more liquidy fruit filling. It gets delicious and jammy with fresh fruit, so try to get your hands on fresh fruit!
