Week 143

We were walking the neighborhood before dinner last night and I dared to mutter the words "I miss early Covid." You likely have better boundaries than I do, but I do too much and am overwhelmed often. I enjoy staying busy and want to have no plans all at the same time and am constantly learning where that equilibrium is for me/us. So while that OBVIOUSLY isn't what I meant, I am craving a slower pace - some days with no plans.

This week, we're making cake! We have three birthday celebrations this week (Curran turns 7!) and I tested another Chocolate Cake recipe (I still love Lori's Midnight Chocolate Cake in the archives) but this one is a little different. The frosting is softer, and the cake a little more structured because it has eggs.

In case you don't have reason for cake (although neighbors love a cake delivery!) there is a crisp salad, the kid's favorite meatballs that we made on Zoom a few weeks ago, and some bowls with a peppery pesto that can go a few ways.

Hope there is something for everyone here, and that you find yourself with just the weekend you need. xo
