Week 182

Hey hey. It's a verrrrryyyy vegetable-y week! I hope your kids are ready to eat a lot of scones? I'm kidding. The lettuce wraps are so delicious and the filling can definitely go over rice. The tagine has a heavily spiced broth that we top with some preserved lemons and toasted sourdough to go along. I am not generally one to fuss over sandwiches but the Rainbow Sandwich this week does require a few steps and it is SO worth it! It has a few make ahead steps and you can skip one of the layers if you want but just promise me you'll get good bread. Don't do all that work then throw it on a piece of Milton's.

I know this is a very heavy week for all of us watching what is happening in Ukraine. I've had to relieve myself of the pressure of saying the right thing online when big things happen in the world. It is a complicated thing to have a forward facing job, and my area of expertise being quite narrow. What I do know personally, is that feeding people, gifting food, inviting someone in, paying attention to where you can be hospitable, creates ripples. Maybe they seem small, but it matters. When I feel helpless, I find a place to give, and it feels like something. I wish that for you this weekend - may you find a place to give. Anywhere.

You are a group of really wonderful, generous people. Thank you for being here.
